Day 31 of 31 Days of Summer Lovin’ 2016: Enjoy!

Thank you to everyone who participated in the 31 Days of Summer Lovin’ Challenge for 2016. It has been a pleasure seeing all of your written and photographic responses to each prompt. The challenge has brought me new friends and new inspirations.

If you enjoyed this challenge and are looking for an August Challenge, head on over to Susannah Conway’s homepage and learn about her August Love 2016 challenge, which starts tomorrow.  She is one of my favorite writers, and I look up to her very much.

I apologize for my lack of participation in this challenge  over the past 3 days. My Internet modem is not functioning, and I’m conserving data on my phone until the next billing cycle.

However, I have been enjoying life with less technology. It’s more authentic and real. I like to think that my modem crapped out so that I could experience real life, rather than seeing what appears to be real life through a technological device, even if that “real life” is me, just sitting here, writing in solitude.

Come tomorrow, when a technician is scheduled to fix our connectivity issues, I vow to remember that real life is what is important, and that I can get by without wasting so much time scrolling through Facebook or Instagram.

I hope you continue to follow SoulSEAker, because I look forward to documenting my “mission from the universe” in August, as I will be embarking on a pilgrimage to Dublin. Stay tuned my friend!

Thank you again for following me. I am thankful for you, because YOU are helping me find my voice.

Have a splendid day, and ENJOY it my friend!

Day 14 of 31 Days of Summer Lovin’ 2016: Fruit

One of the aspects I like most about summer is the fruit. Cherries, blueberries, peaches, apricots, grapes, strawberries, plums…you name it! My 3 favorites are nectarines, pears, and pluots. If you’ve never heard of a pluot, it is a cross between a plum and an apricot. Very similar to a plum, but sweeter. I’ve also seen them called plumcots.

Today’s picture is one of my 3 favorite fruits that I edited in a new app called Prisma. It’s free in the App Store and has some neat filters.

July’s bounty of fresh fruit is at its height my friends! Enjoy!

Day 02 of 31 Days of Summer Lovin’ 2016: Bloom

File_000Bloom. There are so many ways I interpret this word, but they all have the same action in common: coming out of a shell in order to live while displaying beauty. I’ve been awed by how many orange day lily blooms I’ve had bloom this summer…so many more than usual! Sadly, this beautiful orange display is ending its short exhibit, as I only have two buds left, and both should open today. But that’s nature, all in its own time. I tried to mirror the photography technique of my friend C when I took this picture the other night; this bloom was lit by the evening sun and stood out from the rest.

My sweet-smelling milkweed is also in full bloom today. In the past, I’ve had full milkweed blooms in the middle of May, but this year’s blooms didn’t open until this week…the latest ever. Additionally, A few years ago, I had a rogue tiger lily appear in my garden, and since, it has multiplied into several plants. This year, most of them are already taller than I am, and I’m 5′ 5″! They should be the next perennials to bloom.

I’m finding that I, myself, am undertaking the progress of blooming. I am coming out of my self-imposed shell of solitude in order to live, and my hope is that my words will be what displays the most beauty.  We’ll see.

Something to SEA: Tomorrow Is Day 1 of 31 Days of Summer Lovin’ 2016

Hello, friends!

Just a reminder that you can join me in celebrating my most favorite time of the year by participating in 31 Days of Summer Lovin’ 2016!

For every day in July beginning with July 1, there is a one-word prompt relating to summer.  How you respond to that prompt is up to you, either through your words or your pictures. The goal is for you to slow down, and on each day, focus on one glorious aspect of summer. As a result, you will hopefully have a renewed appreciation for the little things that summer brings our way, as well as 31 days of fond memories to look back upon.

Here are some ways you can participate:

I’m looking forward to loving the Summer of 2016 along with you!

Something to SEA: The Time Manifesto

Time.

We think it is endless, with an unlimited balance.

We live like there’s another life with more time waiting for us in a bank somewhere, ready to protect us with an overdraft if we reach our spending limit.

The minutes speed by quicker and quicker every year, every month, every day…and our overdraft disappears.

Someday. Someday we say.  But when is that day?

Before we know it, we turn the calendar to the next month. Then turn it again…and so on.

We change the clocks.  Forward and back.  Forward and back…and so on.

Our schedule is not ours.  It is regimented by others.

Others who think our time is not valuable as theirs.

Others who put their agenda before our well-being.

Others who determine our worth by requiring a financial payment month after month, year after year.

In the big picture, what’s my balance, anyway?

I might have a few minutes left, or years and years and years…

Only the teller in the sky keeping track of my account knows.

The truth: my TIME is worth more than all of the money in the world.

Time.

It’s TIME to reclaim MY time.

It’s TIME to LIVE THIS LIFE, my valuable life filled with my valuable time.

It’s TIME to move forward with positivity, with kindness, and with compassion as I spend the rest of my time here on Earth in the most meaningful way:

LIVING.

“Sea”king MY soul.

On MY terms.

Helping when I can.

Sharing experiences with the people who are important to me.

Seeing the places I want to see.

Making the memories I want to make.

A life that is free and so full that no overdraft will be required when my account is closed.

Isn’t it TIME for you to join me?

Something to SEA: My Choice is To Write

In an effort to write more, especially here at SoulSEAker, I’m participating in a writing challenge.  My goal is to publish something every day based upon the given prompt that I receive via email.

As Elizabeth Gilbert writes about in “Big Magic,” I have to find the time to write, even if I have to sneak away for a few moments, like two lovers do.  They find the time, somehow, to be with each other, and I am now making it my choice to find time every day to write something.

Ironically enough, today’s prompt is to write a response to one of six words.  CHOICE is one of them.  Dedicating myself to writing every day is my choice.  I choose to let the day’s to do list sit idly for a while and energize my creativity by writing.  Even if nobody reads what I write, I am still encouraged and satisfied that I wrote.

I’ve had such a spark of inspiration for writing lately.  Not only here, with my blog entries, but in my journals, in some projects, and in my planner.  I have written more in the past week than I have in a very long time.  And there’s still the same hours in the day as before, when I couldn’t find the time to write.  Now I have found it because I CHOOSE to find it.  And what a difference that choice has made.

Another one of the six words for today was REGRET.  I almost chose to respond to that word instead.  However, after thinking it over, I changed my choice.  Someday, I’ll be ready to write about regret, but that’s not my choice today.

Thank you for sticking it out with me and for following me along my journey as I “seak” my soul.  Definitely, to be continued…
